Warner Music Group (WMG) is the third largest conglomerate and family of recording studios in the "Big Three Record Companies". The group was founded in 1958 and was called Warner Bros. Records. Then in 1971 it was renamed WEA (Warner Bros. - Elektra - Atlantic) and existed for three decades.
Today, the group is called Warner Music Group (WMG), having been founded in 2004 as a result of its separation from Time Warner. Despite the name, Time Warner no longer has any ownership rights over Warner Music Group.
